Norteam supports the vital mission of Stockholm Stadsmission

Norteam x Stockholm City Mission

Right now, we are living in uncertain times with economic downturn and war. In such times, it is those who are already vulnerable that are affected the most. Therefore, last Christmas, we at Norteam wanted to contribute and show care by supporting the work of Stockholm City Mission for vulnerable women and children.

Together we become strong - The vital work of Stockholm Stadsmission

The Role of Meeting Places

In a conversation with Jonna Alfvegren, unit manager at Stockholm City Mission in Vårberg, a daily life of hope, challenges, and opportunities is revealed. "The meeting places," Alfvegren explains, "are more than just a sanctuary; they are starting points for new beginnings." With activities ranging from basic needs like meals and hygiene to social justice work and children's play and learning, she paints a picture of an organization striving to combat vulnerability.

The Impact of Donations

The impact of donations cannot be underestimated, especially during Christmas, a time which for many is synonymous with community and joy. "Christmas gives us a unique opportunity to spread extra light," says Alfvegren. With the help of contributions, Stadsmissionen can offer everything from festive meals to excursions, which not only provide temporary relief but also create lasting memories for the families they support.

Challenges and Solutions

The challenges, however, are many and growing. As societal challenges increase, from recession to unemployment and poverty, the need for support grows. Alfvegren emphasizes the importance of collaboration, both within civil society and with external partners, to be able to reach out to and support those who need it the most.

Stories from the families

For those who have received assistance from the City Mission, the gratitude is profound. From children experiencing a day at Gröna Lund for the first time, to parents finding a community to share their daily life with, the stories are numerous and touching. "Seeing the meeting place as a 'living room' for those we help is incredibly rewarding," shares Alfvegren.

Commitment and Vision for the Future

But the need for support does not end with financial aid. Alfvegren highlights the importance of engagement in broader terms, from volunteer work to partnerships that enable activities for children and youth. "Trying new activities can work wonders for self-esteem and the feeling of being included," she points out.

We Make a Difference Together

As Alfvegren concludes, "Your donations make a big difference, every day. Getting involved not only adds value to those who receive help; it also enriches the life of the giver." This is a call to action for all of us: to look beyond our own world and contribute to a larger one, one that is built on solidarity, community, and hope.

Through Jonna's words, we gain a deeper understanding of the invaluable work carried out by Stockholm City Mission and how important it is that we all contribute. So let us work together for a society where support and community are at the heart, not just during Christmas but all year round.
